We'll be having new USB-C mods available soon!
Development for the Sega Genesis Model 3 has been worked on and completed. It become available early December. This completes the original Sega Genesis and Mega Drive productions excluding the mini's.
Current development is focused on the Nintendo Famicom. Early stages are turning out well with a promising initial prototype. This mod will feature power via USB-C PD (as per usual), TRRS composite AV, option for either stereo sound from the CPU or Dual Mono from the cart, and ability to adjust the brightness.
The Famicom mod will be our first custom PCB commercial mod. Take a look to see what current results are looking like! The next prototype design is almost ready, and looking to be ready Q1 2025 at the current pace. Lessons from this will go into development for an identical mod for the American NES.
We've been asked about a USB-C mod for the Nintendo Wii-U a few times, and it's something that is feasible for the main console, and not just the large hand unit. However, research into the PPS protocol is needed as standard PD only supplies up to 3A at 15V as PD is something that's preset supposedly. PPS implies PD, but allows for 5A at 15V. Regarding triggers, we need to understand if there's something on the trigger side that needs to be done; whether a specific IC or other circuitry if something more custom is needed, if a trigger rated for 5A (which ones we use are) set at 15V will be okay and let the PPS adapter handle things, or something else.
That's it for now - Thanks for reading!
