Wii USB C mod now available!

It's been a mini adventure designing the USB C power mod for the Wii.

The initial model was a success with an avoidable flaw I only noticed after reassembly. This goes into my preference to keeping things as reversible as possible; including case, and shield modifications. The initial design required shield trimming which didn't sit well as it meant an area of mechanical stability loss.

The vias for the original power port are utilized for easiest installation. Ground vias next to the fuse are slightly too small for the cable to fit while soldering directly to the fuse didn't sit too well as an intended means of installation. Sure, there's a filter we can solder to like with the genesis, but skipping fuse is something that isn't worth risking in case of power spikes.

Carefully redesigned and tested, it's finally ready for everyone to enjoy! No shield cutting or mild cable routing needed.

If there would be demand for one to be made for the Wii U, I'll consider doing it as well. I just don't know if people would then be willing to get USB C PD wall adapters that can supply 15V at 5A. That means you need a 75W minimum PD adapter, at that point get a 100W one as you could use that for anything that needs 20V at 5A.
