2025 will be a formative year for Renewed Gaming Relics. The first 6 months have yielded a lot of information to make improvements on top of ongoing initiatives.
When the 2025 started, consoles and controllers got delisted for changes. Those changes have been have now been made which include: price adjustments, additional region modifications (where applicable), automatic coupons at checkout, updated descriptions, and new resource list for region locked games in cartridge based console descriptions. Everything will remain ala-cart style.
New region filters have been introduced as well to sort through those only for NTSC-U, only for NTSC-J, and those that are both NTSC-U and NTSC-J. Filters for ODE options have also been added. Speaking of ODE, GameCubes have started being listed with PicoBoot installed for those that have been re-shelled. Ones that are cosmetically flawed have not been re-listed as their changes have not been completed.
The estimated quote section for sending in your items to be services is also undergoing changes to make things easier for you and me.
A new page has been made and is being worked on for power consumption to direct and answer questions regarding that topic with measured results from my testing. This is something I do get asked about and would rather make a dedicated page for it rather than add to FAQ. It's available on every console and USB-C mod listing.
If you're in the Discord or following along some of the YouTube posts, then you may not have heard that I've been developing a consolidated USB-C AV mod for the Famicom (NTSC-J) as well as one for the WiiU GamePad docking station. The FMC mod, which I've mentioned in my last blog, is now nearing completion with what should be the latest protoboard waiting to be assembled by me as soon as it arrives. Results have been very good direct going to a TV and capture card with jailbars being a non-issue.
Addressing international shipping will begin come time to filing taxes when I meet with my tax advisor in April. With things changing, I want to make sure things go right and that I go about the right way of doing things.
I'm a one-man shop to do all the work behind making the mods, refurbishing, making videos, doing the social media, marketing, developing new mods, and everything in between so many of these things take time and it's hard to not over stretch ones self. Many initiatives have been put on hold because of over stretching so prioritizing things can become a challenge when shifts are needed. In the Discord, you've previously voted for (unanimously) USB-C mod development to be the priority product; while that will be the direction for new things, it won't completely stall other developments I want to pursue.
I'll be planning to expand out my social media outreach as well so look forward to that!
Pedro
